⚠️ Children's Privacy (COPPA Notice): SnapyPlay is designed for children ages 4–16+ and is used under the direct supervision of a parent or guardian. We comply with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children without verifiable parental consent.

1. Who We Are

SnapyPlay ("we", "our", "us") is an educational mobile application for children ages 4–16+. The app is operated by the SnapyPlay team and is available on iOS and Android. For privacy questions, contact us at support.snapyplay@gmail.com.

2. Information We Collect

We collect the minimum data necessary to provide the service:

Parent account information: Email address and password (stored securely via Firebase Authentication). This is the parent's account — children do not create accounts.
Child profile data: Name, age, avatar selection, interests, and in-app progress (XP, coins, streak, quest history). This data is linked to the parent account.
Photos your child takes: Images are uploaded to our secure Firebase Storage to generate learning content. Photos are stored under your account and can be deleted at any time from Settings.
Usage data: Number of daily snaps (to enforce free tier limits). We do not collect device identifiers or behavioural analytics.
Purchase records: If you purchase Premium, payment is handled entirely by Apple App Store or Google Play. We only receive a confirmation that the purchase was made — we never see your payment details.

3. What We Do NOT Collect

No face recognition or biometric data from photos
No location data (GPS coordinates or IP-based location)
No device contacts, calendar, or microphone beyond TTS playback
No advertising IDs or cross-app tracking identifiers
No data sold to or shared with advertisers — ever

4. How We Use Your Information

To generate age-appropriate learning content from photos using AI
To track quest progress, XP, and achievements for each child profile
To enforce daily snap limits on the free tier
To allow parents to view their child's learning history in the Parent Dashboard
To send password reset emails when requested

5. AI and Photo Processing

When your child takes a photo, the image is sent to our secure Cloud Functions which use third-party AI services (OpenAI, Anthropic) to generate learning content. These services process the image to identify objects and generate educational questions and stories. Photos are not used to train AI models. AI providers are bound by data processing agreements that prohibit use of your data for any other purpose.

The text-to-speech feature uses the ElevenLabs API to generate character voices. Only the text of questions and prompts is sent — no personal information.

6. Data Storage and Security

All data is stored on Google Firebase (Firebase Authentication, Firestore, and Cloud Storage), which meets SOC 2, ISO 27001, and other enterprise security standards. Data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest. Access to your data is restricted to authenticated requests tied to your parent account.

7. Data Retention and Deletion

You can delete all stored photos at any time via Settings → Delete All Images. To permanently delete your parent account and all associated data (including child profiles, quest progress, learning history, and uploaded photos), use Settings → Delete Account inside the app. If you need additional help, contact us at support.snapyplay@gmail.com.

8. Parental Rights (COPPA)

As the parent or guardian, you have the right to:

Review any personal information collected about your child
Request deletion of your child's data at any time
Refuse further collection or use of your child's information
Withdraw consent at any time by deleting your account

9. Third-Party Services

SnapyPlay uses the following third-party services, each with their own privacy policies:

Google Firebase — authentication, database, storage, and cloud functions
OpenAI / Anthropic — AI-powered content generation from photos
ElevenLabs — text-to-speech voice generation
RevenueCat — in-app purchase management (no payment data stored by us)
Apple App Store / Google Play — payment processing for Premium

We do not use Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, or any advertising or tracking SDKs.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by updating the date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
